Why I am standing for Parliament in 2024

If all goes to plan, the UK could elect a Labour Government at the 2024 General Election which will take the challenges our country faces seriously. Such a victory is long overdue, but is by no means certain.

Key to securing the change the UK needs, is Labour gaining seats in Scotland. To do this we must have strong local campaigns run by strong candidates. We will also need to elect MPs who fully support Keir Starmer and Anas Sarwar if that UK Labour Government is to succeed.

This is important if we are serious about protecting workers’ rights, growing the economy, cutting inequality and meeting our climate obligations.

I love being a Councillor, and this made my decision to stand as an MP incredibly difficult. I know my track record, however, means I am Labour’s best chance of taking Edinburgh South West from the SNP. This is why I am standing.

I make only one promise to you: If I win, I will make sure your voice is heard at all levels of government, and no problem will be too small for me to help you with.
