The tiles above (click for more details) and the briefing below from SGN details plans they have for roadworks on Oxgangs Rd North and Colinton Road in the coming weeks. Readers of my Facebook page will know that, after concerns about the safety of children were raised with me by Oxgangs PS Parent Council, the Council recently had to demand SGN close down their works.    At that point I requested that SGN complete the work over the  Easter holidays: 8th – 22nd April 2019. I am disappointed that will not be possible, but they gave me a clear commitment today to complete as much of the work as possible over the Easter Break.  They also assured me that where footpaths are closed it will only be on one side of the road and safety measures will be in place for children going to/from school.

SGN have already discussed the plans with Oxgangs PS, but they have agreed to my request that Braidburn School, Firrhill HS and St Mark’s RC PS are also notified. 

 

SGN Briefing – Notification of major gas replacement works: Oxgangs Road North & Colinton Road

Our work in the Oxgangs Road North and Colinton Road area of Edinburgh continues to progress well.

During the months of April and May the following roads and junctions will be closed, so our work can progress along the roads. This will be in place for approximately eight weeks.

• Oxgangs Road North – Close road and footways between Firhill Crescent and Colinton Mains Road including Firhill Loan junction. This includes a suspension of parking between the same locations.
• Closure of Elliot Road at the junction with Colinton Road
• Closure of Elliot Road at the junction with Colinton Road
• Closure of Craiglockhart Road at the junction with Colinton Road
• Closure of Craiglockhart Road at the junction with Colinton Road

Temporary traffic signals may cause delays during peak periods, but will be monitored throughout the project.

Signed local diversion routes will be in operation during this time. Parking suspensions will be in place for the duration of works although access to driveways will always be maintained unless previously agreed with the occupier.

We’ll be working Monday to Friday between 8am – 4pm. We wish to assure you that work will progress as quickly as possible and we will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience caused by our works
